The
cooperage of Fanagoria Estate Winery has produced a batch of wine barrels (450
and 300 l) to be exported to Georgia. Presently, the barrels are being packed
and prepared for shipment.
Vladimir
Prisiazhniuk, Head Cooper: “We got an order from Georgia for 70 barrels from
Caucasian oak. We crafted 64 differently toasted 450-liter barrels for
white and red wines, and 6 non-toasted 300-liter barrels, all by request of a
Tbilisi-based winery.”
Fanagoria
Cooperage has an export experience abroad: in 2013, Fanagoria casks were
exported to Scotland made to order of William Grant & Sons Ltd., followed
by a batch of 120 barrels (225 and 300 l) dispatched to another Scottish whisky
distillery, Glenmorangie.
Fanagoria’s cooperage shop opened in April
2011. It produces casks from Caucasian durmast oak (Quercus petraea), branded
as The Old Russian Oak. The casks are used by Fanagoria Estate winery itself,
and sold to other Russian wineries and abroad (Chile, the UK).
